12th International Seminar on Sports and Exercise Psychology (ISSEP) 2025
The 12th International Seminar on Sports and Exercise Psychology (ISSEP) was successfully held from January 19 to 22, 2025, at the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. This annual academic conference is dedicated to advancing the field of sport and exercise psychology and brought together participants from Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, India, and Malaysia. The gathering highlighted ISSEP's role as a vital platform for academic exchange and collaboration within the Asia South Pacific region.
Under the theme “International Innovations and Technological Advances in Sport and Exercise Psychology,” this year’s seminar featured a series of engaging keynote and invited lectures from 15 distinguished speakers. Over 130 submissions and registrations were received from nine countries, attracting more than 100 participants—including renowned scholars, industry leaders, coaches, sports practitioners, and both postgraduate and undergraduate students—all eager to share the latest research findings and practices in sport psychology.
This year, ISSEP 2025 introduced a unique additional objective: to reinforce the collaboration established through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the School of Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia and esteemed institutions, namely:

the College of Sport Science, Burapha University, Chonburi, Thailand;

the Department of Sport Science, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul, South Korea; and
-
Sekolah Tinggi Olahraga dan Kesehatan Bina Guna, Medan, Indonesia.
Several renowned scholars and industry leaders in the field of sport psychology attended the conference and shared their latest research findings. Attendees actively engaged in in-depth discussions and practice-sharing sessions, making the conference both impactful and inspiring.
The event not only provided valuable opportunities for participants to enhance their understanding of the field but also fostered cultural exchange and collaboration among attendees. The success of ISSEP 2025 was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the organizing team, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Garry Kuan Pei Ern, whose meticulous planning and commitment ensured a high-quality experience for all. Participants provided positive feedback regarding the informative and well-organised sessions, further solidifying ISSEP's prestigious reputation in the international academic arena.
In conclusion, ISSEP 2025 not only showcased cutting-edge research in sport and exercise psychology but also laid a strong foundation for continued academic cooperation and future research initiatives in the region.
