Webinar: Systematic Review for Beginners - 2nd Edition

On March 7, 2024, in collaboration with USAINS Sdn. Bhd., the Exercise and Sports Science (ESS) Programme from the School of Health Sciences, Health Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) conducted a webinar entitled "Systematic Review for Beginners: 2nd Edition." This webinar was coordinated by Dr. Ayu Suzailiana Muhamad (Chairperson of the ESS Programme) and Ms. Nik Siti Nuramiza Nik Zaid (PhD student). This second edition of the webinar was held because of the excellent response and feedback obtained from the first edition of the webinar which was held in July of 2023.

The objective of this webinar was to assist participants in producing a high-quality systematic reviews through step-by-step guidance provided by Associate Professor Ts Dr. Shazlin Shaharudin, a lecturer from the ESS Programme. A total of 137 participants joined the webinar, including lecturers and postgraduate students from USM, as well as other universities such as Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, International Medical University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris.

During the webinar, participants were taught about PICO, PROSPERO, Mendeley, PRISMA, data extraction, critical appraisal, and the step-by-step process of manuscript drafting. Each participant received a manuscript template to assist them in starting their systematic review. Additionally, they were provided with a certificate and recording of the webinar. It is hoped that after participating in this webinar, participants will be motivated and equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce and publish high-quality systematic reviews.
