Assalamualaikum and salam sejahtera
Welcome to the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia
The new academic year 2022/23 is a beginning for many – not only the first years but also our second and third years that missed campus life due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, welcoming students back on campus takes on a whole new level and meaning.
For many, this would be the first time attending physical lecture classes, dealing with academic matters in-person and being part of the campus community. There will be many questions, different settings and new faces for everyone. My advice is to be open and take things in. Be mindful of differences and yet, be true to who you are. Let us get to know one another as how you will get to know and love PPSK. As students in PPSK, you are our main priority and concern. We are here for you.
In line with new beginnings, I am committed to prioritise the well-being of everyone in PPSK – our students, staff, academics and more. Through these past few years, there were losses and changes of all kinds from our dear ones, finances, things we were used to and the norms that we were comfortable with. Being here today, we will make the best of things, move forward and take things head on! However, when there are days that are less than cheerful, know that there are people here for you – your coursemates, friends, lecturers, and me. Being positive in spirit and mind is not to be taken lightly or for granted. When we are feeling down, remember to reach out and connect. No one is ever alone in both downtimes and successes.
Let’s celebrate your successes and my door is open for the not-so-great times too.
May the academic year of 2022/23 be about new beginnings and I look forward to getting to know you better.
Makan sirih berpinang muda,
Makan bersama Laksamana Budi,
Walaupun banyak ilmu di dada,
Makin merunduk resmi padi.
Thank you.
