Medical Radiation Student Won Best Oral Presenter Award at International Conference on X-rays and Related Techniques 2023

PhD candidate from Medical Radiation Programme, Nur Atiqah Syahirah Shari has won Best Oral Presenter Award at the International Conference on X-rays and Related Techniques (ICXRI) 2023. Nur Atiqah won the award after presenting her research findings entitled Mechanical Properties Enhancement and Radon Gas Emanation Reduction Analysis of Composite Bricks reinforced with Cellulose Nanofibrils and Graphene Oxide. The paper was related to the characterization of cellulose nanofibrils that was applied into composite bricks for mechanical strength enhancement and at the same time to reduce the radioactive radon gas for healthy indoor environment.

The biannual international conference was held at Grand Dorsett Subang Kuala Lumpur on 23-24^th of August 2023 and attended by 40 researchers from various organization such as public and private universities, PETRONAS, Malaysia Nuclear Agency and many more.  The conference organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia provides a platform to share recent research findings in materials characterization using X-rays and ionizing radiation used for non-destructive testing materials. On the other hand, several multinational and international analytical companies such as RGS Corporation Snd. Bhd., BRUKER, iLAB, ZEISS, JEOL, DKSH have also involved to demonstrate their current high-end technologies based on radiation application for material characterization in industries.
