On 7^th April, a team from the School of Health Sciences, USM led by Nur Athirah Abd Rahman, a PhD student in Sports Science and mentored by Dr. Shazlin Shaharudin, organised virtual National Biomechanics Day (NBD) 2022. The duo received an international grant for an outreach program worth USD700 from The Biomechanics Initiative Inc. to organise the event. With “Women in Biomechanics” as the program’s theme, the event aimed to inspire more female students to take up biomechanics as a field of study and eventually a career.

Several outstanding speakers and collaborators joined this event: Dr Mohd Nor Azim Ab Patar (School of Medical Sciences, USM), Assoc Prof Dr Loh Wei Ping & Dr Mohamad Ikhwan Zaini Ridzwan (School of Mechanical Engineering, USM), and Dr Rizal Mohd Razman (Universiti Malaya). In December 2021, the duo also received RM5000 industrial in-kind contribution from Tenaga Nasional Berhad for Sports Biomechanics project. PPSK hopes with these collaborations, funds, and activities, more people will be interested in biomechanics research.
