March 2024: The first workshop organized by the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Network (COMBIONE) club and co-organized by the School of Health Sciences at USM was entitled "Python Workshop: Dive Deeper into Deep Learning." It was held from 3–5 May 2024 and brought together the eager minds of 21 participants from diverse backgrounds all over Malaysia, and one international student. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Prof Wan Rosli Wan Ishak.

Hands-On Learning Experience
The interactive sessions featured explanations and experience sharing from our honoured speakers, including our director, Dr. Ezzeddin Kamil Mohamed Hashim, and Mr. Babalola Abdulhafeez from the School of Health Sciences, as well as Dr. Najihah Ibrahim, an invited speaker from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).

The workshop distinguished itself by offering participants a unique blend of theoretical insights and practical applications. Set within the computer lab at the School of Health Sciences, USM, attendees immersed themselves in hands-on sessions covering fundamental concepts of Python programming, machine learning, and neural networks.

Under the expert guidance of the speakers, participants navigated through basic Python syntax, data manipulation techniques, and the implementation of common packages essential for deep learning endeavours. They then ventured into the realm of machine learning, exploring optimization strategies, model evaluation techniques, and the deployment of various classifiers tailored for health data analysis.
