'SCIENCE FOR SCHOOL' 2024 EMPOWERS STUDENTS' INTEREST IN HEALTH SCIENCES
USM, KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 26 August 2024 – The Biomedical Program of the School of Health Sciences (PPSK) at the Health Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in collaboration with the Malaysian Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Society and the Kelantan State Education Department (JPNK), organized the seventh edition of the 'Science for School 2024' program today, themed 'Inspiring Future Health Scientists'.
This program aims to enhance knowledge, broaden perspectives, and develop students' interest in an engaging manner to strengthen the national education landscape, particularly in mastering health sciences and technology in the long term, which will have a positive impact on future generations.
This year, the program was attended by over 50 students from Form 2 and Form 3, along with science teachers from 10 selected secondary schools in the districts of Kota Bharu, Bachok, Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, and Machang.
The program featured various interactive science activities, allowing students to explore the multidisciplinary field of health sciences through five scientific activity modules, including 'My Body-Inside Out', 'Heart for Health', 'Stem Cell-The Mother Cell of All Cells', 'Cracking the Code: ABO Blood Typing', and 'Beat The Heat'.
The 'Science for School 2024' program was officially inaugurated by the Dean of PPSK USM, Professor Dr. Wan Rosli Wan Ishak. Also present at the event were the Deputy Director of Learning Sector Education, JPNK, Mohd Hassany Hashim; Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, and Industry-Community Engagement, PPSK USM, Professor Dr. Hamid Jan Jan Mohamed; Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Career, and International Affairs, PPSK USM, Associate Professor Dr. Rapeah Suppian; the Chairperson of the Biomedical Program, PPSK, who is also the Director of the 'Science for School 2024' program, Associate Professor Dr. Nurul Asma Abdullah, as well as officers from JPNK and the Kelantan State Education District Office.
