Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, workshops that were usually held face-to-face were not possible. Therefore, in 2021, the School of Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia successfully planned an online Undergraduate Academic Writing Workshop to ensure that every student could attend. On the 11th of December 2021, a workshop on Academic Writing Guidelines 2021 was successfully held online using the WeBEX Platform with participation from the first and second year undergraduate students. The workshop was officiated by the Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs) of the School of Health Sciences, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Fahmi Lim Abdullah.

The workshop was conducted by numerous lecturers, who were also authors of the book 'Panduan Penulisan Akademik,' published by Penerbit USM in early 2018 and which became the number one BEST SELLER PENERBIT USM for 2021, went successfully. During this workshop, students learned how to avoid plagiarism and rewrite sentences, as well as how to comprehend academic writing abilities and tactics through good writing rules and procedures for proper referencing based on specific forms.

The successful implementation of this workshop is critical in ensuring that PPSK undergraduate students have a high level of knowledge and skills in producing high-quality reports and assignments in the proper format. The workshop also aligns with USM's vision and objective to develop students/graduates/skilled professionals with strong soft skills, particularly in academic writing, in order to increase their marketability.
