Science for School 2023

SFS 2023 REPORT FOR PPSK WEBSITE
Cultivating knowledge, particularly in science is imperial and should commence at the early stages of education. Echoing this, the Biomedicine Program, School of Health Science, in collaboration with the Kelantan State Education Department has successfully conducted the Science for School Programme on the 16th of August 2023. With the theme ‘Inspiring Future Health Scientists’, this program gathered more than 50 participants including 40 students and their Science teachers, as well as a few representatives from the Kelantan State Education Department.

The students have come from ten selected schools throughout Kelantan. This annual programme which marked the sixth organization was conducted physically after the COVID-19 pandemic. During the whole day event, allparticipants were exposed to knowledge sharing and interactive activities; My Body-Inside Out, The Amazing Microscopic World, The Superhero in Our Food, My Touch ID, and Help, I’m Breathless. These knowledge-sharing sessions, coupled with demonstrations and hands-on of science activities were conducted by experienced lecturers: Associate Professor Dr Hermizi Hapidin, Dr Sabrina Safuan, Dr Marina Abdul Manaf, Associate Professor Dr Nik Fakhuruddin Nik Hassan and Associate Professor Dr Wan Amir Nizam Wan Ahmad.

This programme was a big success for the organizer. The score of pre- and post-questionnaire regarding the topics shared during the programme showed a significant difference before and after the programme. All participants were excited and hoping for a similar programme in the future.
